Condo co-housing: an intentional community in the clouds
Richard Asimus loved his new home at the Hammond North Condominiums; aside from a beautiful building and lovely grounds, residents gathered for quarterly dinners that immediately made him feel part of the larger community. But taking the idea of communal action a step further — building a true intentional community — proved difficult. With a key strategic shift and few simple principles, however, Richard and allies like Joan Hoxsey slowly built an organic movement based on story-telling and co-learning. One measurable outcome: rather than 17, there is now only one condo up for sale.
